Tropospheric wind measurements with AMISR-14: Experimental setup and preliminary results
Resumen
A relatively small, low-power 14-panel version of the Advanced Modular Incoherent Scatter Radar (AMISR) system has been operated at the Jicamarca Radio Observatory (JRO) in Perú for remote sensing of the equatorial ionosphere. The system, referred to as AMISR-14, has been successfully used for coherent backscatter observations of various field-aligned ionospheric irregularities, such as equatorial spread F. The electronic beam-steering capability of AMISR-14 enables observations in different look directions and allowed, for instance, studies of the spatio-temporal evolution of equatorial spread F.
